Since reaching the 50k, it gets harder and harder to get around to the writing. I think the upcoming big-ass conflict scenes are insufficient carrot for me.

I went into this writing knowing that one character will have to kill another, or maybe try to kill two others, and instead wound up dithering my way through a verbal confrontation (okay, so one punch was thrown) in which the FMC slogged through the same reveal to wind up with all the characters in agreement. Smallest write-in ever, but I got a lot written despite not knowing where to go without knowing what the frelling connection is. It's to do with communication, for sure, despite my having taken the most glaring language issue out of the story. I had one of those frustrating experiences where the character realises something significant, because you just KNOW right there that a connection exists in the story that you haven't previously seen . . . and still don't. Urk. Rough going. I was forced to turn the random weasel attack into a dream sequence. The foreign-possibly-slaver guy interrupted the nightmare when he showed up for a midnight chat about a police action. Not sure where that one's going, either.

I'm back to using reading fanfic scenes as bribes to write my novel. Yeesh. Rough week all around.

More last-minute meeting and locale changes, tonight. I hope that's my three and I'm done with it. I fully expected to have no time to write, between work and a night of Primetime Adventures, so when I wound up with extra hours on my hands, I played hooky with fanfic. And the horrible truth is that the novel's premise is the darling that I have to kill to make it work. This whole broken language thing interferes so much with the secondary and tertiary characters' ability to funtion that helping them just survive was the only thing the main characters had time for.
